Remote Services

This site provides lots of free information to help you make use of a wide variety of free and open source tools and resources. However there are times when you may need a hand in getting things to work they way you want them to, in such cases you may wish to make use of our 'on demand' remote support and advice service.

We will handle individual queries via email, Skype or Google Hangout and these will be charged at our standard rate of £30 per hour, rounded up to the nearest hour.

Whilst we will use reasonable amounts of skill and care to resolve problems you have referred to us, there may be circumstances beyond our control which prevent us from solving your problem using our remote support and advice service.
In the event that it is not possible to solve your problem, we will discuss alternative solutions with you such as on site help or training wherever it is practical to do so.

We depend on the information you give us to operate this service; such information must be as complete and accurate as possible to allow us to effectively solve your problem.

Refunds

In the unlikely event that there is a dispute concerning our work, refunds will include an administration fee of £20 to include our payment surcharge fees and administration.

The information we need & how we use it.

We may ask you for certain details which are required to perform our services; this includes address and contact telephone numbers as well as a working email address.

Sometimes we may ask you if we can record our conversations for our records, your permission will always be sought before this takes place and a digital copy of the recording will available to you should you want one.

Your data protection and privacy rights regarding other information I may collect are set out in our privacy policy.

The use of this information is governed through our privacy policy.

Business consulting agreement

Before we undertake any work on your behalf we will ask you to read and sign our business consulting agreement.  

This seeks to provide you with the confidence that your job will be done on time, in a professional manner, with care and skill.
It also outlines what you can expect from us and what we expect from you in return. 


Liability Exclusions

We do not have specific knowledge of your IT infrastructure, existing hardware and software systems or how they are configured.

Whilst we will use our best efforts to minimise disruption to your systems and processes, we cannot be responsible for any unforeseen consequences of our services.

We cannot be responsible or liable to you in relation to any service regarding any:

  • loss or corruption of information, data or records
  • failure by you to follow our reasonable recommendations, advice or instructions
  • loss of goodwill, or any loss of (or interruption to) your business or contracts
  • losses you may suffer arising from your use of (or failure to use) any anti-virus and anti-malware software
  • loss that is not reasonably foreseeable
In no event shall we be liable for any damages arising from the use of the free and open source software or resources which have been utilised under the terms of the business consulting agreement which we will ask you to sign before we commence any work for you.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. 

Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms and Conditions shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
